About Me

Who I am and my goals

I am a twenty-one year old musician based in Scotland. I grew up in Aberdeen but I am now based in Edinburgh where I study BMus (Hons) at Edinburgh Napier University and have just finished my third year. I have always shown interest in music ever since I was a young girl, but my interests blossomed when I was ten years old and I joined my school choir and began learning the trumpet; fast forward eleven years and I now have grade 8 with merit in tuba! I am heavily involved in the brass band community – I have been banding since the age of 15 and I have attended the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) multiple times and I have performed with the reserve and senior band. I also now work with SBBA (The Scottish Brass Band Association) as a co-host of the SBBA Speaks Podcast. Outwith my studies I also am taking piano and voice lessons at Morningside School of Music and I am involved in the Edinburgh Napier Chamber Choir as the president for the 2022/2023 session.

I study music because I genuinely love it, and I want to use music to make an impact on others and help people. I have wanted to be a music therapist for many years and my current goal is to do the best that I can in my undergraduate degree to achieve a place on a masters course in music therapy.
